This document describes the integration of Microsoft Dynamics AX Service Industries and the Microsoft Project client that is available as part of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3. The objective of this document is to provide partners and customers with guidance on new capabilities and scenarios that are enabled.
The integration with Microsoft Project provides provide customers with a more robust and efficient project management experience that includes a number of new capabilities:
- Create projects and project contracts in Microsoft Dynamics AX by using the Microsoft Project client.
- Staff projects in the Microsoft Project client by using Microsoft Dynamics AX workers.
- Automatically derive financial cost and revenue estimates in Microsoft Dynamics AX by using planned work and categories of work specified in Microsoft Project.
- Replace the work breakdown structure (WBS) of an existing project in Microsoft Dynamics AX with a Microsoft Project plan (MPP file).
- Open Microsoft Dynamics AX projects in Microsoft Project.
- Create WBS templates for Microsoft Dynamics AX in the Microsoft Project.
- Integrate with Microsoft SharePoint Online by creating collaboration workspaces in SharePoint Online and then synchronizing tasks lists in Microsoft Dynamics AX.
- Use Microsoft Project to create the WBS of project quotations in Microsoft Dynamics AX.
