That\u2019s why it makes sense for agencies to explore the FedRAMP JAB-certified Akamai Content Delivery Network and Microsoft\u2019s FedRAMP-certified <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azure<\/a> cloud solution, both of which remain unique in their achievement of the FedRAMP JAB\u2019s highest certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ms-rteElement-P\">By combining agency Azure solutions with Akamai\u2019s globally distributed content delivery network (CDN), agencies can quickly realize their online objectives. For instance, when using the Microsoft Azure and Akamai approach, all online requests for agency data are first directed to Akamai\u2019s FedRAMP-accredited Intelligent Platform. Akamai\u2019s highly distributed cloud service allows an agency to defend against attackers close to where the threats originate, at the edge of the cloud. Agencies get distributed control and additional visibility with centralized operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ms-rteElement-P\">Microsoft\u2019s powerful combination with Akamai can effectively streamline efforts in a number of areas, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Help agencies secure access to sensitive data using <a href=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windowsserver\/dd448611.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS)<\/a> and multi-factor authentication in a way that leverages proven on-premises identity and access management solutions now available in a trusted and scalable cloud.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protect an agency\u2019s on-line reputation, transparency, and business initiatives with a high-performing and engaging on-line experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce costs and provide improved availability and visibility into agency cloud-based web operations, with end-to-end visibility for agencies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide access to enterprise-class Azure services that can help agencies meet important needs of IT departments and line-of-business workers in order to ultimately better engage citizens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable agencies to take advantage of a secure platform that has rich Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) capabilities in both a commercial and government cloud. These services include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Storage, backup, and recovery of data \u2013 Azure Storage and <a href=\"http:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/server-cloud\/products\/sql-server\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SQL Server<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development and testing \u2013 Azure Virtual Machines (VMs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extended infrastructure \u2013 Azure VMs and Virtual Networks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ms-rteElement-P\">As we look at some of the means by which federal agencies leverage online operations, we know that they\u2019re used to engaging citizens through a variety of services, as well as in times of emergencies, when clear information needs to be delivered in a timely fashion. In many ways, an agency\u2019s web site is the first, and sometimes only, driver of the public\u2019s perception of its security, performance, and overall reputation. So successfully managing this on many levels is essential. That\u2019s why agencies leverage the right infrastructure tools\u2014and the combined best-of-breed solutions of Akamai and Microsoft\u2014to result in increased uptime, faster performance, and better public perception of valuable agency services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ms-rteElement-P\">&#8220;Federal agencies are mandated to ensure that any cloud provider they use meet the FedRAMP requirements, and an easy way for agencies to do this is to leverage those services that have pre-existing authorizations,\u201d said Matt Goodrich, FedRAMP Program Manager at the General Services administration. \u201cSome of these services work in concert, providing enhanced security and improved end-to-end user experience. Collaboration among FedRAMP-authorized providers goes to the heart of FedRAMP, helping to create a robust marketplace for secure cloud computing services for the US government.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ms-rteElement-P\">As the government cloud marketplace matures, the services Microsoft offers today will be extended and expanded. In addition to working on our annual FedRAMP update, the coming months will also bring the introduction of our Azure government cloud and a host of expanded offerings for agencies.
