{"id":2416,"date":"2022-12-07T08:00:53","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T16:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/blog\/copilot-studio\/center-of-excellence-starter-kit-with-power-virtual-agents-govern-monitor-manage\/"},"modified":"2025-06-30T05:58:13","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T12:58:13","slug":"center-of-excellence-starter-kit-with-power-virtual-agents-govern-monitor-manage","status":"publish","type":"copilot","link":"https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/blog\/copilot-studio\/center-of-excellence-starter-kit-with-power-virtual-agents-govern-monitor-manage\/","title":{"rendered":"Center of Excellence Starter Kit with Power Virtual Agents: Govern, Monitor and Manage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As customers expand their use of Microsoft Power Platform to enable citizen developers across their organizations, they also seek capabilities to govern and monitor usage.&nbsp;Power Virtual Agents is Microsoft&#8217;s low code conversational AI solution that allows users to build sophisticated bots easily and quickly.<br>In its December 2022 release, the Center of Excellence (CoE) Starker Kit introduces several improvements that help organizations better govern and monitor the usage of Power Virtual Agents bots in their tenant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-the-center-of-excellence-starter-kit\">What is the Center of Excellence Starter Kit?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/CoEStarterKit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Power Platform CoE Starter Kit<\/a> is a collection of components and tools that are designed to help organizations develop a strategy for adopting and supporting Microsoft Power Platform, with a focus on Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, and Power Virtual Agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-new-for-power-virtual-agents-in-this-release\">What is new for Power Virtual Agents in this release?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The CoE Starter Kit in its current version already included an inventory of bots across environments. This release introduces new capabilities&nbsp;that allow tenant administrators to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Keep track of the number of conversations per bot over time<\/strong>, with daily aggregates. While <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/power-virtual-agents\/analytics-sessions#change-the-default-period-of-session-transcript-retention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conversation transcripts are kept for a default duration of 30 days in Dataverse<\/a>, the CoE Starter Kit generates aggregates for each bot, every day. This is because these bots reside in Dataverse for Teams environments, and data in these types of environments can&#8217;t be accessed from Power Automate, which the CoE starter kit uses to gather inventory data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"are-conversations-the-same-thing-as-billed-sessions\"><em>Are conversations the same thing as billed sessions?<\/em><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>This extension doesn\u2019t use the concept of \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/power-virtual-agents\/analytics-billed-sessions#definition-of-a-billed-session\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">billed sessions<\/a>\u2019 but counts the number of conversation transcript records instead. Billed sessions are still available to customers as part of their bot analytics, in Power Virtual Agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-can-i-deploy-the-coe-starter-kit-in-my-tenant\"><em>How can I deploy the CoE Starter Kit in my tenant?<\/em><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Installation instructions are available <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/power-platform\/guidance\/coe\/setup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"i-have-setup-the-coe-starter-kit-but-only-see-aggregates-for-the-past-day\"><em>I have setup the CoE Starter Kit but only see aggregates for the past day<\/em><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>By default, the CoE Starter Kit only starts creating daily aggregate records for bot conversations the day the latest version is set up. If you need to rebuild aggregates for past conversation transcript records data, you can install the&nbsp;CenterofExcellencePVAUsageFirstRunAllData_1_0_0_0_managed.zip solution, available <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/coe-starter-kit\/tree\/main\/CenterofExcellenceResources\/Release\/Collateral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>, and run its flow once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-is-the-coe-starter-kit-supported-by-microsoft\"><em>How is the CoE Starter Kit supported by Microsoft?<\/em><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the underlying features and components used to build the CoE Starter Kit (such as Microsoft Dataverse, admin APIs, and connectors) are fully supported, the kit itself represents sample implementations of these features. Our customers and community can use and customize these features to implement admin and governance capabilities in their organizations.
