They provide value in people\u2019s lives. They\u2019re also usable. They\u2019re easy to use to get the job done. When we can also design a\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">delightful\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">experience, we build loyalty and engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Why\u00a0delightful\u00a0is\u00a0important<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Why delightful experiences?\u00a0Delightful experiences\u00a0are important because they\u00a0impact a customer\u2019s complete experience \u2013 inclusive of how they act, think, and feel. And\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/research\/group\/customer-insights-research\/articles\/why-people-may-not-trust-your-ai-and-how-to-fix-it\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">as our past work has shown<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0feelings matter. Delightful experiences are amplifiers. They initiate a positive reaction. They can motivate customers to continue to choose a product because it makes their work just a little more enjoyable.\u00a0They are good for users, and good for business.<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Delight might seem like an unimportant component, but it is the icing on the cake of a remarkable customer experience.\u00a0For me and my team,\u00a0delivering\u00a0delightful\u00a0UX\u00a0requires us to collectively reimagine every experience we build. Delightful UX isn\u2019t just a bolt on, and it isn\u2019t the job of a few. Everyone needs to consider how their experiences will transform.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We\u2019ve been spending time with customers to understand what delightful experiences look and feel like to them. Delightful experiences come in many forms.\u00a0The following are 5 patterns of delightful UX we\u2019ve identified based\u00a0on\u00a0customer interviews.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i>The five patterns of delightful UX<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-753739\" src=\"https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/delight1.jpg\" alt=\"a blue top\" width=\"105\" height=\"105\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/delight1.jpg 96w, https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/delight1-12x12.jpg 12w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 105px) 100vw, 105px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Playful.<\/strong> Playful experiences make users smile, laugh or enjoy themselves in the context of their work. These experiences are sometimes described as not critical to the work at hand, but they\u00a0 provide an emotional boost for users.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-753742 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/delight2.jpg\" alt=\"a peacock\" width=\"105\" height=\"105\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/delight2.jpg 96w, https:\/\/newed.any0.dpdns.org\/en-us\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/delight2-12x12.jpg 12w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 105px) 100vw, 105px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nAttractive.<\/strong> Colorful interfaces, graphic representations and friendly experiences are often found delightful. These experiences are pleasing or inspiring and connect users to the product. They are delightful with a nod toward feeling satisfied. Sometimes these experiences mimic an in-person experience, but then enhance it for the digital realm. Personal color-coding, naming elements, adding icons or expressive emojis illustrates a user\u2019s presence in their work. Being able to produce high-quality, professional deliverables results in users feeling accomplished and feeling delighted with themselves and the work they create.<\/p>\n<p>Tapping into these five patterns of customer delight helps evoke a positive emotional response to our product or feature \u2013 so positive, in fact, that we\u2019ve heard customers laugh out loud when they talk about delightful experiences that make them smile. Having a positive experience leads to increased customer satisfaction, repeat usage, and the ability to achieve more with the product, all of which are key goals for our product teams.
