We all understand the importance of economic growth and social development programs for India. Do we consider research and innovation equally important? No… The talk will start with presenting reasons why India should aspire to lead in science and technology. I will argue that that the neglect of research and innovation in India risks its economic growth and social development.
\nFurther, I will use data to illustrate India\u2019s performance in research and the various deficiencies in India\u2019s research ecosystem. The data will shed light on productivity of Indian researchers, interest in research in India, research institutions\u2019 performance, collaboration among Indian scientists and industry involvement. This will form the basis of policy suggestions on improving India\u2019s research ecosystem.
