New TPC-E benchmarks rank SQL Server 2008 #1 Value Leader
New benchmarks released by the Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC) ranks SQL Server 2008 #1 for price/performance, offering customers the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) for an enterprise-class database. The benchmark results demonstrate the performance benefits customers can expect from pairing SQL Server 2008 with hardware from leading industry partners including Intel and IBM.
TPC-E is the most modern and rigorous benchmark for measuring real-world transaction processing and Microsoft is the first vendor to receive the TPC-E benchmark certification with 18 TPC-E benchmarks on SQL Server, 7 of which released since the RTM of SQL Server 2008. OEM partner Inspur Group published the first Microsoft SQL Server TPC-E results in non-U.S. dollar currency in China. (See note #3 below)
In addition to #1 price/performance results with hardware partners Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, and IBM using the new Intel Dunnington CPU, Microsoft has seen similar results using other industry processors including Intel Itanium, and the 4-socket Tigerton Xeon.
