With the launch today of Hyper-V – available only in x64 versions – I thought that now would be a good time to revisit the topic of “64-bitness.” I’m a technical product manager on the Windows Server team focused on Windows Server 2008, R2, clustering, and power management, along with a few other areas.

In June of this year, we released a beta version of UrlScan 3.0, which can help mitigate SQL injection attacks. Today, we’re happy to announce the final release of UrlScan 3.0 for Internet Information Services (IIS). UrlScan 3.0 is a security tool that restricts the types of HTTP requests that IIS will process.

It might seem like a distant memory now, but when we launched Windows Server 2008 back in February, we made a big deal about the next-generation Web platform included with it: Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0. Pixar uses Windows HPC

Microsoft published a Security Advisory today providing information for developers and Web administrators on ways in which they can mitigate and prevent SQL injection attacks. As you might have seen, there was a spate of such attacks in late April and it caused quite a few headaches for administrators.
Windows HPC debuts in the Top 25 fastest supercomputers in the world…what more do I need to say?
A few months ago we completed our runs for the Top500 list. For those of you not familiar with this bi-annual benchmark, the Top500 list represents the 500 most powerful computers in the world. It is the supercomputing supergeek superlist. We completed runs with the National Center for Supercomputing Application (NCSA) and with Umea University.

New branch office appliance from Citrix
We’ve blogged about the use of Windows Server within branch offices several times here and here. Many of them kicked off with the introduction of Windows Server 2003 R2. Today Citrix announced Branch Repeater, which they say is a new line of branch office appliances.
